Almost every year during the holiday season we have the same wonderful situation. Great Food! Great Friends! Great Drinks! Great Desserts! and then the same problem, you gain 5-10-15 or more lbs. Then comes the first of the new year and you’re forced to make a New Year’s Resolution to lose the all of the weight you have gained eating the wonderful food you ate. Well, it is not yet the end of the year, you’ve gained no weight (except maybe your Covid weight), and you don’t want to gain any weight! What is there to do?
Okay, in your defense it has been a tough year. There has been lots of stress! Lots of problems! You have worked hard. You have the right to let your hair down and have fun. You have survived. You have the right to enjoy the holiday season and celebrate all that you have accomplished over the past year.
Truthfully, isn’t that what the holidays are all about? Celebrating your survival and that you are alive, well, and after a hard taxing year, you’ve made it and want to celebrate? This year the food will be plentiful, the drinks will be inviting, the desserts will be magnificent and you deserve lots and lots of sweetness and good feelings in your life.
You don’t want to say, “No!” to celebrating. You want to say, “Yes!” You deserve everything that is good, and you are right. It will be impossible to say, “No!” to everything, so where do you draw the line? as everyone else is clearly saying “Yes!” Everyone else will be saying, “Yes!” and they will be enjoying themselves, yet, you don’t want to gain weight, but you also don’t want to say “No!” What’s a person to do?
