Sex Hygiene – More Simple Do’s and Don’t About Sex and Men
In our Initial article we discussed issues women have regarding sex hygiene. What about men?
Truthfully while sex is fun it can get messy. It’s easy for men to forget about cleanliness in the moments and hours after sex. However, being aware of your hygiene before, during, and after sex can significantly reduce your risk of STDs and other health concerns. Also, being clean is very sexy to many women!
I would like to say right up in front, there is no exact right way to become or keep clean and healthy, except with soap and water and a bit of forethought. I offer a number of very general rules to remember when it comes to sexual hygiene for men.
1. Wash, Dry and Smell Good
Men’s scrotum and testicles are prone building up sweat, smelling and getting irritated. While the skin of the genital area is no different than the rest of his body, this area stays at a higher temperature and needs to be washed more often, at least once a day. If you sweat a lot, whether it’s from working out, hot weather, or you’re just who you are, make sure to stay clean down there. Wash frequently. Don’t be obsessed about it, as you can wash too much, just be consistent once or no more than twice daily.
2. Change Your Shorts Daily
Yes, change your underwear on a daily basis. Keep your underwear clean and dry. You can prevent infections, skin irritations, odor, and becoming a major turn-off by staying clean. If you work out during lunch, or sweat a lot during the day, consider changing your underwear in the middle of the day to stay fresh for later. Wash underwear in hot water and a mild detergent soap that does not irritate your soft and sensitive parts.
3.. Trim The Pubes
It is true, everyone is different, some men like longer, bushier and thick pubic hairs, while others rather shave and eliminate their pubic hairs. No matter your preferences, keep your pubic area neat and clean. For most women, clean, nice smelling pubic hair stay cleaner is more conducive to exciting sex. While some women are into sweaty men, and you can ask and find out, most women are not. They are however into the normal pheromones men make which helps increase sexual attraction, but not if spoiled by old, foul smelling sweat. You can, of course, talk with your partner about what style of pubic hair she like and what exactly turns her on. You might be surprised!
4. Wear Condoms
Sex can involve a host of issues. One such issue is when having sex with a new partner or one who is tense and dry there can be tearing of skin and/or foreskin and hence bleeding or creation of sores. There is also of course risk of STDs. With these in mind, using a lubricated condom can be a good idea for either vaginal and/or anal sex. If you have bleeding it maybe vaginal and/or anal tears.
These tears may not bleed and in fact may be microscopic and not recognized. These microscopic tears maybe a problem in transmission of STDs.
5. Never Anus Before Vagina
Some couples are into anal sex. This is fine but there is a healthy order to the two. Oral sex does not disturb the flora or fauna of the vaginal but anal sex can. When bacteria from the rectum get into the vagina during intercourse, this can present a problem to some women, hence to you as their partner. While anal sex can stay as a part of your sexual play but it should not get into your partners vagina. If your fingers, mouth, your penis or sex toys have been inside your or your partners rectum, wash them very well, with soap and hot water before they end up in your partners vagina. Anal and vaginal bacteria are very different contamination of the vagina, or for that matter your urethra or under your foreskin, can potentially lead to one or both of you becoming infected and having pain and suffering.
6. Wash Your Hands and Your Sex Toys
Okay, I know I just said all of this BUT it bears being said again. If hands, fingers, penis or toys are in the rectum they absolutely must be washed. The fact you have not had a problem in the past is irrelevant. Infections with yeast and bacteria can and possibly will happen but can be prevented when you effectively wash your hands, fingers, penis and play toys. Yet, you should try, as these simple step could save your female partners from a yeast or bacterial infection.
